Appeared only on cassette in 2014, this new edition in double Lp features 3 unreleased tracks. David Edren’s organic minimal electronics are never majestic or magniloquent (like Schulze or Froese) and never neurotic or aggressive for that matter. It is a soft music, delineating echoes of sacred geometry in the emotional balance between oscillations, frequency modulations, and rhythmic pulsations. Diamonds, mineral combinations, emerald luminescences, hydrogen cascades and stratospheric colours like on Jupiter and Saturn…a dance of asteroids and meteorites in orbit and satellites of silent harmonies. But Spoel is not just a departure to the unknown Space more an attempt to miniaturistic description of another macrobiotic life of “unfolding planets,” which is first interior than exterior. A refined touch with an array of analog instruments creates small sketches of cellular symphony, like in an anatomical trip of hidden micro-bodies, listening to blood streams, vibrational motions of Prana, muscle strings or air passages. The general tone has little in common with the “oriental void” but there is an evident desire for quiet as a prelude to the Satori. All this makes Spoel a great micro-tonal investigation work and conncects Edren with great visionaries such as Micheal Hoenig, J.D.Emmanuel or Tonto’s Expanding Head band.

GENTI E PAESI DEL MONDO
The mid 70s presented mature, fertile grounding for maestro Piero Uimiliani’s Sound Workshop Studio, exploring side ways explorations in to gravitational soundscapes and beyond…. Released in 1975 via his prolific Omicron imprint, Genti e Paesi Del Mondo (‘Peoples and Countries of the World’) is a return to the ethnic flavours so beloved of Umiliani’s zeitgeist. Umiliani turns anti-clockwise launching a left field mental audio pad to uncharted territories. On Genti e Paesi Del Mondo sparse, eerie electronic confections spar in unison alongside moody transgressional vibes. Umiliani’s mysterious pathways unlock a trinket box echoing the Germanic stylings of Wolperath’s Plank Studio and Herzog era Popol Vuh. This loving reissue recreates the original artwork, master tape Laquer cutting and Umiliani’s autograph notes on the project.

GRUPPO AFRO MEDITERRANEO
1972 BLUES JAZZ SESSION
The history takes us back in the alternative Milan of the early 70’s, to the flavour of the first jam-blues of that era when musicians from different parts of the world (India, Africa or South-America), of disparate background and culture were used to gather to experiment just with an authentic sense of stay together. In these four tracks seem to retrace the path of that spirit with which great pioneers such as John Mayall and Alexis Corner ferried from overseas the essence of the Afro-American music masters. Here, the devotion to the blues roots remains strong but leaks in the compositions an aerial and wandering component that is coloured as if by magic of exotic and spiritual accents. Hypnotic patterns of guitars flowing almost like raga-grooves slowed, free-jazz horns blowing winds of the ancient seas of the south, while voices and percussions span distant horizons now Latinos or Africans. Gruppo Afro Mediterraneo throws his eye on a cultural dimension more extensive and composite and therefore constitutes a fundamental historical document for a crucial period of Italian underground.

LIVE 75 / EXPANDED VERSION
Reissue with unreleased tracks from the only one tour of this super group composed in 1975 by Franco Battiato, Lino Capra Vaccina, Juri Camisasca, Mino Di Martino, Roberto Mazza, Terra Di Benedetto.
In the mid 70’s the Italian underground scene also seemed to mature an existential priority of yearning toward a new psychological universe, with the firm idea to colonize an uncharted space of a necessary and infinite path of spiritual redemption. In this context, the short experience of Telaio Magnetico was born from the confluence of the Battiato’s experimental efforts in works such as Sulle Corde di Aries, Clic and M.elle the Gladiator and the Albergo Intergalattico Spaziale’s new esotheric electronics. Mosaic of metamorphic sounds and frequencies of unfamiliar constellations, the music of Telaio is a imaginary trimurti of “energy-cosmos-mind”. Synths and lowrey organs draw sidereal labyrinths and landscapes scanned to infinity by a harmonic percussions arsenal. Whispering and radical impro-vocals are lost as delusional fugues in centrifugal vortices and at the same time seem to offer a compendium of religious chants which evoke both Tibetan chorus such as Indian pujas or the Gregorian tradition. Re-emerge sometimes Sufi cadences and relaxations or pastoral-tribal elements on which the chamber carpet of oboe blows like Arabs, Egyptians or Moroccans pifferos. That traced is not only a galactic river but also a Mediterranean circumnavigation: a unique creative moment that in addition to the references with the German Kosmische Musik and the British space-rock seemed to be perfumed by the influence of Gurdjieffian mystic and had roots even in minimalist drone of Terry Riley and La Monte Young as well as parallels with the contemporary research of authors such as Alvin Curran and the following explorations of Futuro Antico.

IL CERCHIO DEGLI ANTICHI COLORI
With their second album of 1981, the ensemble Zeit re-propose their own vision of a new cultural multi-geographical mosaic without boundaries. The sound confirms the inspired and eclectic vein of previous work suggesting even a greater conviction and maturity of intent. The arrangements tend to dilate in more alchemical and hypnotic sequences, while the range of inspirations (Balkan music, Greek, Turkish, Persian, African etc.) and the poly-instrumentalism are even more precious and varied. Decisively more experimental compositions as Gli Antichi Colori Nuovo Orizzonte Kalimba are indicative of an unparalleled executive expertise that flows into meditative and introspective delights by resonances now more obscure or more solar. The conpresence of popular european and middle-east atmospheres as a strong reminder to the world of dance suggest once again the charm of the meeting between East and West, in view of brotherhood and solidarity among peoples. So, the “Circle” releaves itself almost like a sound tale of distant and ancient Byzantine, Arab and Christian novels, according to a nomadic spirit that finds in music the preferred journey to joy and love. In these re-issue also appear Kolo e Variazione and Corde D’Amore, two live tracks unreleased that further enrich the repertoire of one of the most original group that Italy has ever known.

ZEIT – UN GIORNO IN UNA PIAZZA DEL MEDITERRANEO
In the late 70’s the Italian music scene recorded a renewed interest in a sound research involved to a stimulating fusion of popular elements, jazz improvisation and suggestions of the middle-oriental classical heritage. Starting from the experience of Aktuala the idea of a common “Mediterranean air”, that could compare and harmonize rhythms and timbres of various regions, enlivened a large number of musicians. In this context, it also placed the short history of Zeit and of his main member Andrea Tamassia who played and recorded with Aktuala. This first album of 1979, seems to be a continuation of Aktuala music, it presents a compendium of styles and shapes, a collection of letters, visual notes from various places (Greece, Italy, Turkey, Hungary, Maghreb, Balcan Area etc.) rearranged in the form of an hypothetical diary, in order to create an unknown narrative scenario. In the music of the Zeit there’s no formalistic or philological purposes but triumphs an attitude to imaginative incorporation always changing. The rich poly-instrumentalism brings the rhythms of dance and ancient melodies, but also results in a palette of more abstract and ecstatic sounds with rare experimental lyricism that approach the florentine ensemble to the significant european experiences of The Incredible String Band or Third Ear Band.

FUTURO ANTICO – ISOLE DEL SUONO
Unreleased high quality recordings of the italian experimental trio Futuro Antico. The sound experience it’s a mysterious synergy between the elements of Nature, a magical encounter between different souls but with elective affinity. Maioli’s ancient and ethnic wind instruments are the breath of the Air, Sinigaglia’s electronic spirit produces liquid sequences of the Water, while Dabiré’s african percussions materialize the voice and rhythms of the Earth. The result is a total creative Fire, a foamed core of perceptions and multiple sensory universes of distant memory. The dialogue between archaic and futuristic already investigated in the historic “Dai Primitivi All’Elettronica” sees here another bright episode in this unreleased live, the music recorded on tapes directly by the mixing console is the result of the memorable performance held in Bologna at the festival Isole Del Suono on 17 July 1980. The secret harmony between sounds is complete but at the same time brings out the expressive specificity of the three individual personality: the subtlety of reiterate sonic textures; waterfalls of minimalist piano; Sufi atmospheres supported by sequence of organs that reinterpret the frequencies of harmoniums lost, the solemn gait of an African balaphone absorbed in electronic vortices endless…these are some of the coordinates of a musical and cultural poetics that after years continues to wonder for his source of formal purity and multiplicity of stimuli.

GAETANO LIGUORI COLLECTIVE ORCHESTRA
BS030 / BS030-CD
The Collective Orchestra was a visionary, short-living creative music collective led by Gaetano Liguori, who was one of the main protagonists of Italian free jazz since the early 70s. It was an important attempt to put together young musicians from the two main towns in Italy, and its respective leading figures: Giorgio Gaslini in Milan and Mario Schiano in Rome. Previous attempts to set up anything similar were, in fact, either frustrated by rivalries between the various personalities or were destined to be one-off events.
Liguori’s vision is simply wonderful here – even bolder and more expressive than on his previous works for PDU, and the energy which he summons and transmits throughout is just extraordinary. The near-telepathic interplay of the core set of Gaetano Liguori on piano, Roberto Bellatalla on double bass, Filippo Monico on drums, Guido Mazzon on trumpet, and young musicians Edoardo Ricci, Giancarlo Maurino and Massimo Urbani on soprano and alto saxophones, is given a richly expanded sound palette by the addition of Danilo Terenzi on trombone, Roberto Del Piano on Fender bass and Sandro Cesaroni on flute.
There’s something really magical about the reciprocity that occurs when he plays these exceptional improvisers – and the album’s still has a “sense of the new” feel (after 40 years!) that’s as gripping as anything recorded by Italian ensemble around the same time.
The sound is strong and freely exploratory, at a level that’s completely fresh and very striking, and handled here with a wonderful balance between playful arrangements and fierce improvisations.
Filled with power and imagination and originally released in 1976 on Pdu, thanks to Black Sweat it is finally available again.

AUTUMN RESONANCE / DOMINO FIGURES
The LP release presents the reissue of a little-known, but extremely beauty, Post-Minimalism album composed by Wayne Siegel when he was mid-twenties. Moved from US to Denmark, between 1979 and 1980, he began to investigate possibilities of a very personal language, contributing to mould the heterogeneous kaleidoscope of Post-Minimalism results. These works are constructed around a relentless musical process that consists of delaying and repeating every element in a certain measure, without intentional alteration. Siegel called this process canon technique, letting it to become over time his nutritious obsession.
Black Sweat Records proposes the awaited reissue of Siegel’s LP. Compared to the original 1983’s release by Danish label Paula, are now included authentic pictures from the performance of Domino Figures, so that finally return visual results of SIegel’s works as part of his contribution to contemporary arts.

LONELINESS DESIRE AND REVENGE
This 8 track acoustic guitar album is a big change for the experimental musician Maurizio Abate.
After many years of psychedelic albums in which improvisation was combined with a creative recording process, he composed an entire album based on a more traditional method: acoustic guitar solo.
During winter 2014 he organized a series of italian screenings preview of the documentary “ In Search of Blind Joe Death: The Saga of John Fahey” and that occasion encouraged Maurizio to experience the guitar solo language.
After playing these compositions at live shows, Maurizio decided to record the tracks in an almost definitive way, nevertheless the live interpretation of the songs is always different and mutating.
He recorded alone in his house between Christmas 2014 and new year’s day on a reel tape recorder, performing acoustic guitar and, in a couple of songs, electric guitar and harmonica.
“Loneliness, Desire and Revenge” it’s an intimate and confidential album, it evokes moods and emotions of the musician during the past 2 years.

This is one of the best long-lost treasure from the 80s – and it’s one long composition filled with raw sounds from the jungle, natural objects and electronic treatment. The idea to evoke a deep journey in the Amazon rainforest has affected various musicians in the history of popular and experimental music, but comparing to other works this rare Amazonia 6891, released only on cassette in 1986, appears as totally original and extreme in his conception. Here, the interest in ethnomusicology of the expert Walter Maioli (mind of Aktuala and Futuro Antico projects) is linked to a precise and comprehensive ecological, botanical, ethological and ethnographic perspective. In fact, starting from the sound recording of the ethnographer Pit Piccinelli’s collection of natural objects, the collected material for this work is re-elaborate in different times by the anthropologist and electronic pioneer Fred Gales and by Maioli him-self.
The result of this multi-disciplinary approach its ‘a long concrete poem of plant organisms, fields recordings of verses and calls of tropical animals futuristically mixed with electronic sounds, as already happened for the great experimental trials of Futuro Antico and Ariel Kalma’s Osmose. Listen this imaginative collage look like to entering in a precious cabinet of antiquities and curiosity whose wonders of multi-coloured cellular fragments are shaped in the synthesis of a single universal sound matter. The merger between the wild jungle, the mysterious voices of the Indians and the oscillation of the electronic waves creates a spasmodic tension between amazing and heavenly moments that leaked also obscure paths and alien sequences.
So, Amazonia 6891 it’s a magic trip into the unknown wild, into abyss of creation of kaleidoscopic floras and faunas, simply a proposal for a synesthetic experience and multi-sensory.

Appeared in 1975 on the legendary Ultima Spiaggia label during the mature stage of the Italian underground scene, the only album of the milanese band led by guitarist Marco Rossi looks like a experiment rather atypical of that period. The typical jazz sound of formations such Perigeo Napoli Centrale, leave here considerable field for improvisation on suggestions of extra-eurepean ethnic flavor, enhanced by the masterful rhythmic section (without drums) curated by the African percussionists Nick Eyok and Mohammed El Targhi. The result was a complex work and full of nuances, in which the spirit of the free-jam is excellent for synthesis of influences and visions. Refined guitar riffs reveals strong blues roots that can blend with the elements and moods of the most markedly spiritual and exotic free-jazz (Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane or Shepp), while when the winds are perfumed of the Middle East flow as distant echoes with ideas of tribal rhythmic that seems to draw both from the rhythms of the northern Sahara as from more Afro-beat rituals of Yoruba ancestry. In the background so persist a poetic of intercultural exchange that approaches the I.P. Son Group to parallels projects such as those made by Aktuala, Arica or John Berberian. Comes with a large format booklet.

After the exploit of Osmose in 1978, Kalma returns into the studio in 1980 with Interfrequence, an ambient space library record. Interfrequence is a continuation of his personal research based on the combination of electronic machines with natural sounds and acoustic instrumentation. The french musician fully wears the robe of master of ceremonies of the synths. However, the path taken is not that symphonic of the minimalist and galactic suites composed by other standard bearers like Richard Pinas and Klaus Schulze. Here, we find 18 short pictures sound (few of them in collaboration of M. Saclays) that emanate a variety of ideas and ethno-cultural influences unparalleled. A distinctive compositional style always returns an crescendo of ecstatic emotions, a reflection on the hidden and secret aspects of the micro and macro cosmos. If in Osmose the sampling sound from the mother Gaia was more explicit, here the Nature is investigated not only in terms of pure tones, but especially in the dynamics of flows and movements dictated by the frequency of moogs and organs and embellished with hyper-space flutes, saxophones and clarinets. Kalma wrote yet another chapter of his personal saga of a new world of sound imagery.

MUSIQUE POUR LE RÊVE ET L’AMOUR
Aside from being a musician, Kalma seems always to reveal itself as a philosopher, a solitary explorer of higher and deeper consciousness. Persevering in his relationship with Indian classical music, he transfigures the acoustic-ecstatic dimension typical of the raga-tampura by modulating synths and wind instruments. This work, which appeared on two different cassettes in 1981 and 1982, is ideally one unique project. In Musique Pour Le Reve Et L’Amour, Kalma infinitely expands the reverberations of the flute, multiplying the nuances with the phasing and loops of organs that recall the beginnings of Terry Riley. Music For Dream And Love is structured like a oceanic carpet of aquatic and airy reflected sounds, a limitless shore from which seem to be emerging voices of celestial entities. Ariel Kalma’s music is always a fine electronic meditation perfumed by warm atmospheres.

Maestro Piero Umiliani returns in the alter ego guise of M. Zalla for the 1974 compositional library piece Mondo Inquieto (‘Restless World’) via his far reaching, experimentalist imprint Sound Work Shop. Ambient tensions are represented via a dramatic cross fertilisation of orchestral strings, layered synths and primeval percussion with the Maestro on moody, reflective compositional duties. Stand out cut Strategia (‘Strategy’) harnesses the dopest Wu Tang Beats alongside swathes of high end electro blankets and is a sample classic aching to be reworked into further outer cosmos soundscapes. Black Sweat has again transferred the elements of this little known Umiliani microcosm into a respectful reissue via an integration of the stark, haunting sleeve design, Laquer cutting from the original master tapes and Umiliani’s autograph notes on the project.

MOGGI (UMILIANI) – TENSIONE
The comparable Piero Umiliani (under his mysterious Moggi moniker) weighs in with another AWOL library gem of 1979. Maestro goes resolutely left field and off track with an intra-personal exploration of the disturbed inner psyche within the human condition. Distressed electro beacons are unleashed as de-tuned predatory Carpenter-esque synth patterns come to the fore (check Clavinet Suspence for primal audio blastings to a lost unnamed 80’s slasher movie). With the electric eighties buzzing on the horizon, Umiliani was quick to capitalise on this cultural shift utilising his Moog synthesisers to tap in to changing musical zeitgeists via cost cutting experimentations for TV, adverts and documentaries. Followers of the esoteric and strange can finally dig in here, lavishly created reissue featuring original artwork, master tape Laquer cutting and Umiliani’s autograph notes on the project. CHAINO AND HIS AFRICAN PERCUSSION SAFARI
A young boy… Found and raised by American missionaries, the only survivor of a non-violent African tribe, whose members, entranced by ancient rhythms, had the ability to communicate with animals and to run like cheetahs… Pulled apart from this original enchanted world, he grew amongst us, down-to-earth westerners. He tried to adapt as much as he could but remained very much rooted in the land of his ancestors.
Still haunted and nourished by his origins, he engraved the rhythms of his Land into the grooves of an Omega Disk…
The year is 1959 and the Exotica music is in full swing. Beautiful women with banana belts and flower necklaces are gathering serious attention by seducing each and every Average Joe dreaming of sunny holidays on exotic islands populated by colorful birds … Low-cost travel and mass tourism were on their way Chaino and his African Percussion, capable of playing for 17 hours straight, 7 percussions at the same time. They recorded Jungle Echoes as a sublime delirium, an absurd myth, an imaginary product of his past.
A unbelievable record made of rhythms and shouts, a jungle, a furnace, a disturbing trip in the imaginary world of this unrivaled percussionist, this son of Africa, no matter what, regardless of his legend and of the myth surrounding his real origin. A dangerously addictive and syncopated atomic bomb of a record. Reissued by Black Sweat Records, hand in hand with Moi J’Connais.

METABOLISMUS UND FIFTY-FIFTY
A CIRCLE INSIDE A SQUARE INSIDE…
This LP is a documentation of the very first meeting of Stuttgart-based minimalist Jazz duo Fifty-Fifty & Swabian sound exploration society Metabolismus. All players draw from decades of experience with different forms of improvisation, using instrumental and electronic sounds known and unknown, to spontaneously create an aural environment of complex simplicity. A wide spectrum of group mind expressions can be heard, from the purely abstract to moments of calm reflection. The title is a meditation on the idea of the impossible. The session was recorded during one afternoon in the Summer of 2012 at Sumsilobatem Sound Studio on magnetic tape, any technical imperfections due to the spontaneous nature of the situation were kept in as part of the document. No digital technology was used in the making of this album.

ELECTRONIC MINIMAL MUSIC
The recent rediscovery of J.D. Emmanuel by critics and audience, and his comeback to underground scene from 2010 was crucial to reweave the development of electronic music in the early Eighties. This new publication cast new light on his first activity of composing and performing electronic music during 1979-83, experiments totally unreleased and never before published on vinyl. Certainly seminal minimal works such as Four Organs or Violin Phase by Steve Reich, A Rainbow in Curved Air by Terry Riley as well Cluster, Harmonia or Peter Michael Hamel’s works of the early Seventies had a decisive impact on the Emmanuel’s debut. However, since the beginning he proves to reshape and reformulate the lymph of his sources of inspiration with a consolidated maturity and accurate vision unparalleled. His poetry it’s closely tied to the will to expand consciousness and explore his altered states, but more than a “cosmic courier” he rather appear as “courier of soul and heart” and “a student of metaphysical Nature of the Universe”. Magician of a incredible variety of analog keyboards JD conceives the sound as dynamic translation of forces and organic fluid expanding flows of energy mass. The cyclicity of patterns and phrases refer to minimalist iteration but his music has little in commune with something purely mathematical; but also using an approach to improvisation filtered by his interest in jazz and in the temporal expansion of rock-jams, harmonic sections are charged with a intimate spontaneity and freedom without boundaries. These 14 “vaporous drawnings”, released in a deluxe edition with photos, writings and digital download code donate a primordial state of grace to the listener, in parallel to contemporary ancestral work Wizards in 1982 (containing two tracks that was originally included in Wizards, but replaced by other tracks just before the final master).

M. ZALLA (UMILIANI)
Don’t let the name mislead you! The enigmatic M. Zalla is one of the numerous aliases of the italian maestro Piero Umiliani who, during his period of fascination for psychedelic and electronic atmospheres, started to compose a good number of musical portraits dedicated, as the title reveals, to the problems of his time. We are at the beginning of ’70 and italians are worried by mafia, terrorism and social conflicts: so it has sense that the music choosen to represent this anxious problems has a sperimental nature; dark and disturbing, a sort of unicum in the long and extremly productive Umiliani career. And if, in 2015, titlesas “Mondo in Crisi”, “Problemi Sociali”, “Azione Sindacale”and “Mafia Oggi” sounds still sadly actual, it’s even more surprising find that the music of “Problemi d’Oggi” (Today Problems) is projected on the future, sounding still alien and uniques. The record presents a various styles: Pink Floyd atmospheres (or Braen’s Machine if you prefer…) and compositions characterized by a wide use of drum machines and synthetizer (MOOG and Sinthy). We just have to listen to the opening track “Produzione” to give sense to the words of Sean Canty (Demdike Stare) that defines it the first techno/trance track of the history; but between the grooves of this vinyl it’s easy to find intuitions that many other artist and musicians – from Residents to Aphex Twin and Four Tet – will be able to catch during their carrers. So “Problemi d’Oggi” is released in 2015. Perfect timing!

If already in his debut album Dawn of 1969, the American multi-instrumentalist Don Robertson coloured with his 80-string guitar-zither a magic ethnic sound, in the next Celestial Ascent, released in 1980 exclusively on tape, it’s only this instrument of the Austro-Germanic tradition to be the chosen viaticum for a timeless journey into the depths of the soul and psyche. Traditionally designed for the accompaniment of the singing of psalms in religious communities, here the zither is the perfect way to explore at the same time the power and the formal purity of the natural pentatonic scales of eastern derivation, investigated by Robertson in New York City at the end of the Sixties. According to the same respect for the cosmic rhythms, which also affects the Indian ragas, the album is ideally divided into two parts: the first side (Oracle Of Love) is the music of the day, while the second (Isis Unveiled) is the sound of the night. The music of Robertson is so authentic “music for elevation & trasformation” by the extraordinary effects of peacefulness, with a holistic and transcendental approach that combines it with other investigations of the sacred sound, like those of Stephan Micus, Paul Horn or Deuter.
The record included the reproduction of the original poster.

OPEN LIKE A FLUTE
Originally composed between 1981 and 1984 and initially appeared only on tape in two different editions, the proposed material from Kalma for this work confirms his pantheistic vision of the ethnic sound that had already emerged in 1978 with the masterpiece Osmose. The deep consciousness of the compositional techniques of Indian ragas it’s mixed here with embroidered electronic textures on which flute and sax explore the most secret archetypal elements of nature. In this way Kalma offers to the listener a personal idea of sacred music with luminous and oneirics tones but always dialoguing with a highest cosmic conception of things. With a clever use of effects, harmonium, delays and exotic percussions Kalma becomes the creator of soundscapes from the endless myriad shades.Such a fusion of western avant-garde and eastern traditione approaches the frech musicien to other big names of the international panorama as Popol Vuh, Angus Mclise or Laszlo Hortobagy. The master comes from original 1/4’’ analog tape from the 80’s.

ECHOESE FROM ANCIENT CAVES
Probably one of the most underestimate artist of electronic of the early ‘80, has been lately rediscover. Expert modulator of electronic and natural sounds, with this work Emmanuel seems to recall and reflect exstensively on that poetics of the cyclic and mantric sound investigated by other pioneers as Terry Riley and La Monte Young. The micro-tonal pattners of the compositions are animated by dense and minimum pulses that amplify the hypnotic and meditative dimension and can be coloured by tibetan suggestions or guitar glissandi of nocturnal taste. In this way the “Echoes from ancient caves”, originally appeared only on tape in 1981, is ideally connected to the previous experimentations of “Rain Forest Music (1981) and Wizards (1982).

PIOTR KUREK – EDENA
Released just few month ago on tape by the polish label Sangoplasmo, Edena is the new amazing record of the polish Piotr Kurek, as a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a penchant for vintage sound equipment, as well as the practical sense to know where their limitations are, his musical compositions –part melodic narrative, part sound collage –distil a sense of nostalgia into a romance for the present. Using a Moebius comic he had never seen (Le Monde d’Edena) and an instrument he would never have (a Mellotron) as a conceptual starting point, the Warsaw-based, Polish artist presents Edena.
A hypnotic, circular motion pervades all of Edena; a cyclic life force that gives the impression of forward motion, while really folding back on itself, reflected by the infinity symbol of the cover.

An amazing Krautrock / nature hybrid masterwork. Warm washes of synthesizer, tribal war drums and drones galore all mixed with the sounds of the rainforest, crickets, frogs, even flies – Osmose was originally released in 1978 and found minimalist composer Ariel Kalma using all manner of keyboards, saxophone, harmonium, delays, effects, even circular breathing, to compose gorgeously minimal, softly spacey slow drifting ambient soundscapes, which were then mixed with the sounds of the rainforest (recorded by Richard Tinti).
It’s a single LP reissue of the double album of 1978

PIOTR KUREK – HEAT
Piotr Kurek – born in 1978 in Poland – is a musician, composer and enthusiast collector of instruments and vintage studio equipment. He is the author of numerous pieces for theatre and contemporary dance performances. In the late 1990s he was the co-founder of the electronic group Slepcy and since then he’s been releasing music for various record labels and has participated in international theatre and music festivals.
Piotr Kurek’s “Heat” was originally released in December 2011 as a limited edition cassette by Digitalis LTD. Sold out shortly after the original release date. Most of the sounds in “Heat” originate from various exotic records, from documentary movies or archives, or were recorded in studio using vintage organs, electric piano and synthesizers. Starting from an original idea of creating a specific music concrete album deeply rooted in archival nature, “Heat” emerged as a rich organ-infused tropicalia where everything was blurred in greenish-brown and sultry air. The Black Sweat Records reissue is a 200 copies edition, pressed on tobacco paper. Inside there is a link to download the digital edition of the album.

EMBRYO – MESSAGE FROM ERA ORA
One of the most original and innovative Krautrock bands, Embryo fused traditional ethnic music with their own jazzy space rock style. Over their 40-year existence, during which Christian Burchard has been the only consistent member, the group has traveled the world, playing with hundreds of different musicians and releasing over 20 records. This is a never before released jams recorded live during 1976 in various locations. This is the only record of the collaboration with the italian jazz legend Massimo Urbani during a wild live in a church of Udine, Italy. If you freaked-out on Jimmy Jackson’s organ-playingon „Steig aus“ then „Message From Era Ora“ is right up your alley! This is much more than just another unearthed archival recording – it’s a rare occasion to actually feel the enthusiasm and joy that fuelled the jams back in 1976. Catch the spirit!
500 copies edition: 200 on splatered colour vinyl, 300 on black vinyl.
Coproduction with the friend label Sound Of Cobra.

BAXAMAXAM – ST
Cristiano Buffa electric guitarist involved in blues and Abdou Mbaye coming from a griot family of S. Louis took senegalese and west african tunes and vulcanized them into deep blues. Muddy tones and desert visions blended with djembé slow beats and rusty ikembé to create an african clay in which to sink. You’ll be trippin’ between daydream guitar textures and minimal percussion while Abdou’s voice talks about love, death, odyssey, cheating, god. 8 tracks recorded on analogue tape by Maurizio Abate in one incredibly hot july afternoon with cigales in the back yard and sweat in the basement. Limited edition of 150 silkscreened copies: 3 different colours (Red, Green and Black).

The six untitled pieces vary from meditative strumming & humming to explosions of crazyness.

AL DOUM AND THE FARYDS
From Milan, Italy, Al Doum and The Faryds return with a brand new LP of immaculate beauty. Fusing together free jazz, psych, eastern and Indian influences. Al Doum and The Faryds create a mesmerizing mixture: the continuous, fluid sound of “Positiva Force” perfectly succeeds in expressing the parallel influences of ecstatic eastern/african sound and of the contemporary free, energetic, spirited sound, with a nice jagged, if not toxic guitar phrasing.
“This fucking righteously Out There declaration comes on like a lobotomized Xhol Caravan meets Shiva’s Tongue meets one of those low low grade reggae recording bands like Ras Michael & the Sons of Negus, all jamming-ah on the 100° Fahrenheit obsidian-strewn plains of Southern Sardinia. Yes, it’s hot “. Julian Cope

EDEN AHBEZ – EDEN’S ISLAND
Ahbez, was a 20th century maverick, possibly comparable to Moondog and Harry Partch. A bearded, vegetarian, sandal wearing traveller, known for sleeping in caves and even under the Hollywood sign – in the 1940s. He wrote Nature Boy, first recorded by Nat King Cole and numerous others. This record, his only album, recorded in 1960, sits quite comfortably alongside exotica proponents Arthur Lyman and Martin Denny: vibraphones, heavenly choruses and bamboo sticks abound, with poetic meandering and a sprinkle of jazz. LP comes housed in silk screened sleeve, with liner notes insert.
