J.D. EMMANUEL

ECHOESE FROM ANCIENT CAVES

BS013

Probably one of the most underestimate artist of electronic of the early ‘80, has been lately rediscover. Expert modulator of electronic and natural sounds, with this work Emmanuel seems to recall and reflect exstensively on that poetics of the cyclic and mantric sound investigated by other pioneers as Terry Riley and La Monte Young. The micro-tonal pattners of the compositions are animated by dense and minimum pulses that amplify the hypnotic and meditative dimension and can be coloured by tibetan suggestions or guitar glissandi of nocturnal taste. In this way the "Echoes from ancient caves", originally appeared only on tape in 1981, is ideally connected to the previous experimentations of "Rain Forest Music (1981) and Wizards (1982).

DR. HOFFMAN / LES BAXTER / REVEL

FIRST ELECTRONIC CHILLOUT MUSIC

BS011

The LP contains "Music Out Of the Moon" and "Perfume Set To Music" one of the first electonic chillout music composed, originally released in 1947 and 1948 on 10" 78RPM. An unusual mix of different styles and musics, these two records were unique collaborations between three disparate talents, who envisioned a world of sound inspired by science fiction, exotica music, and meditations. Without them the theremin could perhaps never have been considered in a pop context. The influence of this music is clear in the multiform artist Sun Ra who covered the song "Possession" in his second LP "Jazz by Sun Ra".

Digitally remastered and limited to 300 copies.

FUTURO ANTICO

DAI PRIMITIVI ALL'ELETTRONICA

BS009

An outstanding raga-like drone lp with a distinctive cosmic vibe, Futuro Antico was a short living collaboration between the two italian Walter Maioli (Aktuala), Riccardo Sinigaglia and Gabin Dabiré (from Burkina Faso). The synthesis between ancient, ethnic and analog electronic music is just perfect, the minimalist repetition with slight changes gives associations of a slow growth; cyclic repetition gives the listener an opportunity to discover the sounds, to meditate, to go into the music, join the same journey trough ancient, primitive cultures and modern electronic soundscapes.

Originally released in 1980, the sound is completly analog and warm, this 300 copies reissue maintain the first tape artwork + info and photos.

PIOTR KUREK - EDENA

BS008

Released just few month ago on tape by the polish label Sangoplasmo, Edena is the new amazing record of the polish Piotr Kurek, as a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a penchant for vintage sound equipment, as well as the practical sense to know where their limitations are, his musical compositions –part melodic narrative, part sound collage –distil a sense of nostalgia into a romance for the present. Using a Moebius comic he had never seen (Le Monde d’Edena) and an instrument he would never have (a Mellotron) as a conceptual starting point, the Warsaw-based, Polish artist presents Edena.
A hypnotic, circular motion pervades all of Edena; a cyclic life force that gives the impression of forward motion, while really folding back on itself, reflected by the infinity symbol of the cover.

EMBRYO - MESSAGE FROM ERA ORA

BS005

One of the most original and innovative Krautrock bands, Embryo fused traditional ethnic music with their own jazzy space rock style. Over their 40-year existence, during which Christian Burchard has been the only consistent member, the group has traveled the world, playing with hundreds of different musicians and releasing over 20 records. This is a never before released jams recorded live during 1976 in various locations. This is the only record of the collaboration with the italian jazz legend Massimo Urbani during a wild live in a church of Udine, Italy. If you freaked-out on Jimmy Jackson’s organ-playingon „Steig aus“ then „Message From Era Ora“ is right up your alley! This is much more than just another unearthed archival recording – it’s a rare occasion to actually feel the enthusiasm and joy that fuelled the jams back in 1976. Catch the spirit!

ARIEL KALMA - OSMOSE

BS007

An amazing Krautrock / nature hybrid masterwork. Warm washes of synthesizer, tribal war drums and drones galore all mixed with the sounds of the rainforest, crickets, frogs, even flies - Osmose was originally released in 1978 and found minimalist composer Ariel Kalma using all manner of keyboards, saxophone, harmonium, delays, effects, even circular breathing, to compose gorgeously minimal, softly spacey slow drifting ambient soundscapes, which were then mixed with the sounds of the rainforest (recorded by Richard Tinti).

It's a single LP reissue of the double album of 1978

BS006

Piotr Kurek – born in 1978 in Poland – is a musician, composer and enthusiast collector of instruments and vintage studio equipment. BAXAMAXAM - ST

BS004

Cristiano Buffa electric guitarist involved in blues and Abdou Mbaye coming from a griot family of S. Louis took senegalese and west african tunes and vulcanized them into deep blues. Muddy tones and desert visions blended with djembé slow beats and rusty ikembé to create an african clay in which to sink. You’ll be trippin’ between daydream guitar textures and minimal percussion while Abdou’s voice talks about love, death, odyssey, cheating, god. 8 tracks recorded on analogue tape by Maurizio Abate in one incredibly hot july afternoon with cigales in the back yard and sweat in the basement. AL DOUM AND THE FARYDS

POSITIVE FORCE

BS002

From Milan, Italy, Al Doum and The Faryds return with a brand new LP of immaculate beauty. Fusing together free jazz, psych, eastern and Indian influences. Al Doum and The Faryds create a mesmerizing mixture: the continuous, fluid sound of "Positiva Force" perfectly succeeds in expressing the parallel influences of ecstatic eastern/african sound and of the contemporary free, energetic, spirited sound, with a nice jagged, if not toxic guitar phrasing.

“This fucking righteously Out There declaration comes on like a lobotomized Xhol Caravan meets Shiva’s Tongue meets one of those low low grade reggae recording bands like Ras Michael & the Sons of Negus, all jamming-ah on the 100° Fahrenheit obsidian-strewn plains of Southern Sardinia. Yes, it’s hot “. Julian Cope

EDEN AHBEZ - EDEN'S ISLAND

BS001

Ahbez, was a 20th century maverick, possibly comparable to Moondog and Harry Partch. A bearded, vegetarian, sandal wearing traveller, known for sleeping in caves and even under the Hollywood sign - in the 1940s. He wrote Nature Boy, first recorded by Nat King Cole and numerous others. This record, his only album, recorded in 1960, sits quite comfortably alongside exotica proponents Arthur Lyman and Martin Denny: vibraphones, heavenly choruses and bamboo sticks abound, with poetic meandering and a sprinkle of jazz. LP comes housed in silk screened sleeve, with liner notes insert.
